Siloam Stone, Inc., was founded in 1973 by Ferd Mueller, a Ceramic Engineer
and entrepreneur. The original mine site was opened in 1955 for the rich fire clay
deposit which was ideal for refractories manufacturing. The fireclay mineral is
still utilized today in the manufacturing process of structural clay products.

Mr. Mueller, who has always had a high degree of interest in landscape design and
stone products, believed the stone deposit had excellent potential for landscape
and masonry applications.
Indeed, Mr. Mueller was right. The stone deposit, in geological terms, is part of
the Dakota Formation which is well known for very high quality sandstone.
Ferd is the father of seven children and has two sons who are actively involved
and share holders in the Business. Matthew Mueller is the General Manager – VP and
handles the administrative, sales and marketing aspects of the corporation. Bradley
Mueller is the Operations Manager – VP and oversees all aspects of the quarry operations.
This family operated business credits their success to the principles of; Outstanding

immediate customer needs, BMP (Best Management Practices), Adherence to all Local,
State and Federal regulations and of course the gift of a product that is both beautiful

The outstanding durability of Siloam Stone makes it suitable for even the most extreme
conditions. It has excellent resistance to erosion and freeze-thaw conditions, as
well as, very good load bearing strength.
The Siloam deposit is uniquely stratified and layered, ranging in thickness from 1" to
48". The physical characteristics, including color and texture,
are also very unique. The earth tone colors range from buff to gray, with hues and
striations of brown, gold, rose, and burnt sienna.

The 640 acre deposit also offers an assortment of dramatic surface stones. Moss
Rock, Field Stone, Canyon Stone, and Specimen Stone are all part of the diverse
Siloam Stone product line.
